This only crosses the line when they say things like you can make a Google fortune working from home, and go on to have you believe that you will be working directly for Google, when in fact you will only be using their advertising platforms.

This kind of deception is what gives work at home jobs a bad rep and why most people believe that opportunities they find online are all scams. However there are certain steps that you can take to protect yourself from making a poor decision when looking for work.

The first step is not only the most obvious but also the simplest to perform. Whenever you are presented with a job offer from one of these work at home recruiters, the first step is to research what they are pitching. If they are recruiting for a specific position or for a certain company the first thing that you should do is scroll up to your navigation menu and put their name into the Google search bar.

No matter how legit an offer sounds this simple step will save you from any potential heartaches. It literally takes less than five minutes for you to gather enough info to make an informed decision. The peddlers of the Google fortune dream definitely do not want you to partake in this step because it will expose their clever ruse, all the more reason for you to remember to do it.

The other golden rule that has been touted by experienced work at home job seekers is to simply use common sense. If you get an email from someone recruiting for a job that sounds too good to be true then in most cases it is. If it seems like a unique opportunity you need to remember that the email you received is also going out to hundreds of thousands of other people so the job can't be that precious if they are simply spamming away the position.

The other thing that is common to the Google fortune crowd is that their work at home positions all come at the price of a sign-up fee. A legitimate job is free to apply and start working for, in fact it is the opposite since they will be paying you from the get go.
