Working Smarter, Not Harder
Technology could be defined as improvement and advancement of tools we already have and use
, or wish we had and were able to use. Working hard usually isn't much fun but a necessary task. Working smarter is beginning to shine as the fun and more acceptable way to work. Here is a good starter tip: work smarter, not harder.
When we think of work, we think of a forced effort to get something done. But is it possible to go to work and do nothing all day? We could change the phase to "going to play and get paid for "fine play done well " and change the vocabulary of many conversations. Unfortunately, this will never happen to most of us in a hundred lifetimes. Those who are fortunate enough to have a successful career at doing nothing, spend literally years of hard work setting the foundation for a successful return for their efforts. Here are some tips to making your job less stressful.
Nothing is more unsatisfying than having to show up at a job you don't like. Misery will seem to follow you around all day, making work less enjoyable with every passing day. A good tip to use to help lighten the load of a bad job, is making a game out of every task. Break down every part of the job, find and focus your attention on something within that part you like or at least tolerate, and concentrate on that. Practice smiling when you routinely perform that part. If you are one of the blessed ones who really like their jobs, keeping a good attitude is easy and enjoyable.
Work places and jobs also allow you to socialize and have relationships with co-workers. This is sometimes the only highlight during the day to lessen the stress of struggling to get your job done. Fraternizing during the time you should be working isn't smart and could lead to more stress if you don't practice moderation. Another helpful tip to help make it through the day, is knowing what stresses you out? Knowing this will help avoid those situations ahead of time. Looking for the positive things as well as keeping a positive attitude will put you in control of how you react to your surroundings, regardless of how grim.
Everyone has an untapped artistic and creative side. Your work place is a great place to try some creativity. Thinking outside the box will not only keep the job more interesting and less boring and mundane, but allow you to find a new approach to each routine and help keep your mind focused on something new and exciting and off the same ole rut. Remember to take a deep breathe and pat your self on the back for a job well done when you know it is deserved. A last but important tip would be to learn how to take sour lemons (uncomfortable situations you might find yourself in) and make sweet lemonade (how you deal with the situation and the people involved) that will make you smile. Focusing on doing your best at any job will make sure it is done properly and with some creativity you might find it will take less effort, which is always fun.
