A list of some distractions that are worse than the constant sound of a train horn. Television The distraction of TV is prevalent in most households today. There has been a whole generation of kids who are now getting older today that cant fall asleep without the lulling sound of the television in the background. Whoever invented the Sleep function on the television which automatically turns off the television after a preprogrammed amount of time knew that lulling and distracting effect of the TV on people. It is hard to say what the distracting effect of television has done to us as a people and a society, it is possible it has made us more impatient, more susceptible to persuasion. In the early days of TV people worried about that exact thing; that TV would be used as some sort of brain washing device by the Communists to infiltrate our minds. Many today still believe the government or advertising are sending hidden message through the TV to lull us into complacency and consumption. The best bet to beat the distraction of television is to limit your exposure, use your Tivo or TV recording device to control the TV and not let the TV control you. Roommates Whether you are in college or you live on your own with a roommate (or several) it can be difficult to getting some reading done or have some quiet time to yourself when youve got to content with a roommate blasting music or trying to talk to your or tell you their problems. Roommate can also be great at times, dont get me wrong, but sometimes some space is needed the distraction of a roommate at an important time can push one over the edge. The best way to deal with a distracting roommate is simply to communicate to them gently but firmly how you need to get some work done or you would rather have some alone time at the moment. Most fair roommate will understand and kindly leave you alone.About the Author:
