Writing More, Easier (really!)
So we all know writing simple little articles can mean big things for our internet marketing business
. But unless you have some weird "writing gene," the whole practice of sitting down and typing up an article can be grueling.
If I could wave a magic wand and make it fun for you to write, I'd do it, believe me. But here's the next best thing -- a quick trick that I've found helps me avoid "blank screen syndrome" -- that's when you sit at the computer knowing you have to write an article, but not really knowing where to start.
I almost hate to tell you what I do because when I put it down in black and white it seems too simple to work -- but here goes.
Take an hour or two and brainstorm a list of topics related to your niche. For example, I'm in the internet marketing niche so the start of my list looked like this:
traffic
podcasting
list building
squeeze pages
...etc.
I actually ended up with close to 50 different topics I could write about. But that's not the end -- the next step is what really helps you.
Whether you're using something like Article Architect or just a word processor, create a new file for each topic. Use the topic as the headline and the filename -- don't worry about being creative at this point, just barebones is fine. You don't want anything slowing you down.
When you're done you'll have dozens of empty files. And you're done for the day.
But tomorrow when you sit down to write, look at the list of files and grab the one that "speaks to you" at that point, and crank it out. Believe it or not, just the fact that you have the file started gives your brain a whole new outlook.
After writing the article, change the file name to be the same as the new headline for that article. Now it's very apparent which ones have been done and which ones are primed and ready.
I've used this method to write dozens of articles -- I just go to the list and pick one that hasn't been done yet and start writing. No need to decide what to write about because that's already been decided.
One other great advantage to doing this is you'll cover all the areas of your niche -- and after the articles are written you're in position to put them together as a comprehensive book on your niche.
Free traffic from each of the articles and your own product to sell to the traffic. It doesn't get any better than that!
