Best known as the "town with the clock, the first thing youll notice on arrival will most probably be the striking town clock. Built by the townspeople in the 1870's, this iconic clock is the hub of the town.
Places of interest include Maengwyn Street - the main street that holds the famous Wednesday Markets. With their great variety of traders and craftsmen, these markets draw in people from all over. If you continue up Maengwyn Street, youll come across the aforementioned Parliament House and the Tourist Information Centre.
Festivals
Celebrating the life of one of Wales' most famous sons, The Glyndwr Festival takes place in the first week in September.
And, then theres the Machynlleth Festival, which takes place in the auditorium in The Tabernacle late August every year.
Walks, Cycle Trails and Other Activities
Home to several of the best Mountain Bike Trails in Wales, Machynlleth has bike routes suitable for all abilities. Although the area is renowned for the Bike Trails walkers are also well catered for in Machynlleth with walks both within the Dovey Valley and on the surrounding hillsides.
The local walks are complemented by the Glyndwr Way National Trail. Machynlleth also makes a convenient jumping off point for visits to the famous Snowdonia National Park,

The railway makes it easy for people from the midlands of England to travel to Machynlleth via Shrewsbury. The Cambrian Coast Railway Line also enables travel to and from the West and South of Wales.
