Yorkie Training - How To Teach Them Tricks

Teaching your Yorkie some tricks can be really fun and exciting. As they are quite curious and eager to please their master, you can take benefit from it. By offering plenty of positive reinforcements, you can speed up your training process and get the desired result within short period of time.

As Yorkies are full of energy and very agile, they can learn many tricks actively and quickly. You need to be patient when they do some mistakes. Try to reprimand them with good words in a positive way. Instead of punishing them, you can behave in a firm and strict way to tell them that you are not pleased with their activities. It would be better if you ignore them for a while when you encounter them doing some intolerable activities. When they see that you are not noticing or ignoring them, they will immediately stop that behavior to get your attention again.

Never confuse your Yorkie by teaching them several tricks at the same time. Give them plenty of time to learn the first trick perfectly before introducing another trick to them. Be consistent in your efforts so that, whatever you teach remains fresh in your Yorkie's mind.

Each training sessions shouldn't be more than 5-10 minutes to avoid boredom and lack of interest. Do it again and again until it becomes a habit for your Yorkie. Yorkie training should be fun and exciting so that they never lose interest and give their full concentration in the training period.

While training your Yorkie, make sure that you are not pushing them to do risky tricks which may jeopardize their health. As Yorkies are small breed of dogs, they can get injured if you let them jump from high ledges or other types of items. You should teach them tricks by ensuring their safety as well.
