. Not only does it help keep weight in check, but it boosts your overall health. Exercise needs to be a regular part of everyone's life. But with the busy lives we lead today, how do you ever find the time for a workout?
Get Creative!
You don't have to put on your workout clothes and head to the gym for a good workout. By thinking outside of the box you can find creative ways to exercise without having a large block of time to work with. The great thing about exercise is any amount is effective. If you don't have a 30 minute block of time, try doing two 15 minute workouts during the day. It will all add up as fitness time. Aim for a certain amount of exercise a day or week. Then keep track of your mini workouts to reach your goal.
A workout doesn't have to be traditional to be effective. Be aware of your surroundings and find ways to fit exercise time around your schedule. If you work in an office building, take the stairs more often. Try parking further away from the door at work and when you run errands. Instead of sitting down with a snack at your break time, grab an apple and go for a walk.
You can step it up even more! Pack a pair of running shoes or your bike in your car. Go for a run or a ride after work. Instead of sitting in the car while your kids are at lessons or sports practice, take that time to take your bike for a spin or hit a great running trail in the area. Let your imagination run wild as you find new ways to exercise during the day.
Multi-task
When you think of multi-tasking you generally think of your job or doing household chores. But you can multi-task exercise as well. Do squats as you load the dishwasher and lunges as you vacuum. If you are stirring something on the stove, use a lightweight dumbbell and do bicep curls with the other hand. Once you start looking for places and times to exercise you will be surprised how many opportunities you will find.
You can even do isometrics as you sit at a stoplight, at your desk and even in a meeting! Tightening and releasing abdominal and buttock muscles is a great way to tone and keep them in shape.
Exercise is important for everyone and you can work it into your busy day. Find innovative ways to make time for fitness and you will be rewarded with better health and a stronger body.
