You Can Have A Low Maintenance Yard!

A beautiful yard is something we all enjoy seeing

. Of course we would all love to have a beautiful yard as well! But not everyone has the time or the patience for tons of yard work. So how can you have a well maintained and beautiful yard without spending every spare moment working in it? It is all in the preparation and having the right tools. These two factors will work together to help you create a landscape that is pleasing to the eye, but not a burden to the homeowner.

Planning

If you want a low maintenance yard, you will need to do a little planning. Research the types of plants you want to put in and make sure they are truly low maintenance. For instance, many trees that are beautiful to look at drop seed pods, etc. throughout the year creating a mess for the homeowner to clean up. Similarly, many flowers need to have strict watering requirements to prevent fungus growth. Know your plants before your put them in the ground. Too many gardeners have removed trees and shrubs that haven't performed the way they had hoped.

The Right Tools

You don't have to keep a shed full of fancy tools to have a great yard. But there are a few good standby's to have. Of course everyone needs a good shovel or spade. When it comes to purchasing a shovel, don't skimp! You will need a good shovel for any heavy work and you don't want it to break so you will want to spend a little extra for quality. Not to mention the fact that a shovel will last years if it is quality made. A couple more must have tools are a hoe to remove weeds and a rake for leaves.

In addition to these few standard tools, if you want a low maintenance yard you will want to consider a few more such as the following. A large capacity sprayer to keep weeds down and reduce pests, you will want to spray. But if you have a small sprayer you will have to continually mix more solution to continue spraying. If you have a large capacity sprayer, you can get all the spraying done quickly.

Consider getting a lawnmower with a wide cutting path. You will be able to mow your grass quicker with a wider path, so you will spend less time pushing the mower around the yard! You don't want to spend your time raking up lawn clippings so try to find one that mulches the clippings as it cuts them. Or at the very least, get a lawn mower that bags the clippings then start a compost pile with them.

It is simple to have an easy care landscape. It just takes careful planning and the right tools. After all you want to enjoy your yard, not be a slave to it!
