. Not many people know about clairaudience or what it is. It involves the ears ability to pick up sounds very, very well. Now, you may think of your 4th grade teacher who was able to hear every whisper and every thought you guys had, but this is just the result of experience from dealing with 9 year olds.

When it comes to clairaudience, you're able to hear a bit more than faint sounds of the world. It's more about hearing from other realms and dimensions. Clairaudience isn't a very common psychic sense and not many people like to pursue this area because of its downside. Just imagine being able to hear disembodied voices talking to and around you. This can be very unsettling for many people and not very fun. You can't really be too sure if you're hearing someone that is "real" or from the other side.

Differentiating the two can be difficult at first, but with time and dedication it can be done. A lot of people are also afraid of not being able to control the voices and when they hear them. The idea of hearing multiple voices at once or one voice that just won't go away could be nerve wracking and might drive anyone insane. Some people who have developed or were born with clairaudience learn to tune out the voices very well.

It makes one think though, if hearing voices could be spirits from the other side, could a lot of people in the crazy house who claim to hear voices really be hearing spirits? If the ability could drive one mad, what makes us think that a lot of clairaudient psychics aren't trapped in the psychiatric ward taking pills for no good reason.

The important part of being clairaudient is to be able to control your ability. Developing this, whether on purpose or by accident, can be quite frightening. Some have claimed to feel a tingling in one ear and on one side of the face. A tone is heard, sometimes the sound of static, similar to someone speaking through a tin can. Others have compared it to listening to a radio that's out of tune and trying to pick up a signal. This all simply means that the ability is opening up.

There are exercises that can be used to fine tune your clairaudience. You can "adjust the frequency" and can possibly learn to turn it on and off. Be aware though, that you may hear some things you may not like. There have been reports of foul language and other things that aren't so nice. What would you expect? Some spirits just aren't happy with being passed over. But the bottom line is that you should exercise caution when deciding to develop some of your psychic powers.
