Congratulations! You've decided to take a great step ahead for the future of your business and chosen to set up a website. What next?

There are three main stages to building a website after you have made the decision to do so.

The first step is choosing a domain name.

This is the name of your website, and where possible, it should contain part or the entire name of your business. Once you start searching for suitable domain names you will discover that many of them are taken you might have thought that your business had an original or unusual name but there is nothing like searching for a domain name to realise that nothing is very original or unusual!

If you can't fit your whole name, use symbols such as a full stop or hyphen.

It is important that your domain name is similar to your business name, in the event that potential clients try and search for you in Google or other search engines, as they might search under your business name.

The second step in setting up your own website is to choose a web host. A web host will actually host hence the name your website on its servers. There are several different options you can choose from here, everything from UK web hosting by EUKHost to dedicated hosting by EUKHost, and you will have to do a bit of research to find out which one is best for you.

As a rule of thumb, smaller businesses with simpler sites and less functionality will usually be fine with UK web hosting by EUKHost whereas larger businesses that require lots of functionality and extra security (perhaps for online shopping) may require dedicated hosting by EUKHost.

Once you have chosen your web host you will have reached the third and final stage. The third stage of setting up your own website is the actual building of it. You will have to make decisions about everything from what information to put on your site to what tools you will use to build it with.
