Zippies: Catchy Name, Neat Item
There's always something new coming out for kids...this time of the year especially. There are these squiggly rubber wrist bands that don't do anything except try to convince your child of how collectable they are. If you enjoy watching the As Seen On TV commercials, there's a ton of toys, dolls and play items for children always being advertised.
Parents are continually bombarded with the "next best thing" for kids, but Zippies are a little different. They advertise as being collectable (which they are), but yet they serve a real purpose. In case your child hasn't clued you in, the Zippies are neat little round tags with faces on one side and a place for pertinent information on the other. They come on a small, adjustable rubber lanyard so they can be clipped or hung around most anything.
Zippies: Toy With A Purpose
If you have a bunch of kids over, you can use them as a way to personalize their drink glasses or bottles to prevent cross contamination. They also can be used to personalize items such as backpacks or other items you send your child to school with. The ID side of the tag gives you plenty of room to write a name and phone number so that lost items have at least a chance of being returned.
The Collectible Zippies
Then there's the collectable side of the product. Parents will like the practicality of Zippies, but the kids are sure to love their collectibility. The initial production offering is a set of ten for $49.80. If you buy the whole Series One issue, shipping is free. Each Zippie has a different cartoon type face, and comes with a name and a little poem. For example, "Tazmo" is a tiger looking Tasmanian type of character. His blurb reads:
"Tazmo the tiger is orange and black.
when he became a zippie, he loved being hung on a back pack.
With his big yellow teeth, he is always hiding underneath.
He can also be sneaking which may be a bit freaky."
For a more mellow Zippie, there's "Flop", who, of course, is a bunny:
"Here is the bunny named flops.
Feeling happy when he hops.
He lives on a farm.
And could cause no harm.
As carrots are his choice,
He has a soft quiet voice".
I won't give you the rest, but I'm sure you can get the idea. There are eight more, each with it's own face and poem. For a children's party where it's in vogue to give everyone a gift, these would be a super item. Not only would they be popular, but they would probably enjoy taking the time to compare and trade.
So, is this a good gift item, or something that your child would enjoy? I mean, they could tag themselves every day to reflect their moods so you'd know what to expect! Besides that, Zippies look like something they would like and enjoy sharing while serving an excellent identification purpose.
