Sydney brothel owner, big punter and businessman Eddie Hayson has been known to place very large bets and plunges on the Australian racetracks. called or known as 'Fast Eddie' or 'The Prince' in gambling world, it is racehorses and greyhounds that are his favourite betting propositions. Controversies have followed the fearless gambler, with a couple of encounters with the Racing Stewards for allegedly fixing races. Although Hayson continues to be a target, no evidence of his participation has ever been found.Known as one of the biggest gamblers in the country, Hayson was at the receiving end from Betstar, an online betting company, who had intentions to sue the punter before accepting a settlement. Hayson is the owner of Stilleto, one of the most popular brothels in Camperdown, Sydney. He is also racing partners with co-owners of the racehorse, Wanted, Andrew (a rugby league legend), and Mathew Johns. Hayson denied any involvement with drug trafficker Harry Lahood who a NSW newspaper reported as a silent partner in Hayson's Sydney brothel. The punter allegedly sued the newspaper and won a significant settlement. Known for his fearless plunges, 'Fast Eddie' was at one time in debt of more than a million dollars owed to Tom Waterhouse, allegedly giving up his last racehorse to square the deal. Another Melbourne bookmaker, Michael Eskander, also pursued legal action against Hayson in the Victorian Supreme Court, to recover more than $300,000. Hayson was known to place large bets with the Waterhouse clan, until his debt crossed a million dollars, according to court documents. In August 2008, Hayson sold 24 of his horses to bring in $1.9 million through Hayson Bloodstock Pty Ltd., for the spring carnival, while bookies prepared to take him on. Among the horses were five yearlings, 11 broodmares, and 8 racehorses. Among the bookies to deal with Hayson's agents was Con Kafataris, a leading Sydney bookmaker, who ceased course operations from autumn 2010 to concentrate on his corporate venture, Centrebet. Apart from horse racing, Hayson was known for punts on greyhounds, making headlines in December 2005 when he staged a greyhound sting, winning $700,000 from Curly Seal, an Adelaide bookie. This hugh sting also marked him as a gambling genius. However, the issue was settled out of court. He also had several disagreements with chief steward Ray Murrihy, due to his relationship with jockeys. On another occasion in 2006, Racing NSW stewards charged Hayson after one of his commission agents backed his horse Flying Song on Betfair. Owners of racehorses aren't allowed to have a wager put on their behalf with a punting exchange. Hayson was charged with breaching racing rule 175b. In the same year, Hayson admitted his links to leading players in racing which included the head foreman of the Gai Waterhouse stable, jockey Hugh Bowman, and jockey Allan Robinson. Phone records scrutinized by Racing NSW chief steward Ray Murrihy indicated that Hayson was in touch with head Pat Sexton, head foreman at the Waterhouse stables on several occasions. Hayson was also questioned about his betting activities in the Bamford Associate Lawyers Handicap where jockey Allan Robinson who rode Silent Song, ran well in the home stretch but was beaten by the John Hawkes-trained Contrast. Hayson was alleged to have backed Contrast. No matter what, Hayson continues to place his bets and deal with the market on his terms.
