, we discussed why so many "How To" Internet Marketing guides and formulas fall short of delivering the goods. We identified several areas that typically aren't addressed:

In my experience, the first and most important question that needs to be answered is "Why". Ask yourself "Why are you (or have you) decided to venture into Internet Marketing?" There can be many viable answers to this question. However, if your response to the question sounds like any of the following, then a huge red flag should go up:

I'm looking for a way to"Get Rich Quick".

I need a way to generate extra income really fast to pay bills.

I want a way to make big money from home in my spare time.

I hear about programs where I can make six figures a month in three months timeby working from home a few hours a week. That's for me!

I have no experience in computers or marketing. I just want a program that will do the work for me and make me lots of money.

I have very little money to budget for a business, but I understand I can start a lucrative marketing business on the internet for next to nothing.

If your reason to start anInternet MarketingBusiness is one of those above or similar, you should take some time and really learn more about what you are getting into. If you've already been in business you likely are not making a profit and have been struggling. This is the point where you need to have what Iwill call, an "Honest Reality Check" with yourself. In all my years in business, traditional and internet, I have found the people who succeed do so because they are passionate about their business and committed to putting in the time and effort necessary to do so. It takes hard work, time and some capitalto be a success in any business. The amount of capital will vary with the type of business. In Internet Marketing, you can start with a relatively small budget, or a larger budget, depending on your finances and other variables which I will get into a little later.

To be bluntly honest, and to repeat myself, it is going to take a lot of hard work and time committed to your new business to make it work. There is no magic formula that will produce "tons" of money with little work on your part. If you possess marketing and computer skills, ie: developing web pages, a knowledge of html etc. , you will have a head start. But even if you are completely new to Internet Marketing with minimal computer skills, you can become very successful. You first need to understand what you are getting into and what you will need to do to develop and grow your new business.

It is not my intention to dissuade anyone from starting an Internet Marketing Business, or deciding to quit their existing marketing business. But I feel that I must be totally honest in an effort to keep someone from wasting time and hard earned money.

Now for the good part! Internet Marketing can be a highly lucrative and profitable business venture. There are thousands of entrepreneurs who are making a good living through the internet. Many of those are making a highly lucrative income. Are there people who are making six figures a month? Absolutely. The one thing that ties all these people together is a true passion for their business. "If you don't love what you are doing, you most likely won't be successful doing it."

Now that we've gotten past the hard part, and you can honestly say "I'm ready to start my own Internet Marketing Business", let's dig in and get to work.

1. What is "Internet Marketing"? (It's a great question, especially if you've decided to make a living at it!)

The simple definition would be - "Internet Marketing", also referred to as i-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.

Internet marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including: design, development, advertising, and sales. Lower costs of dissemination of information (advertising) and a global audience are its main advantages.

The Internet has opened up this global audience of prospective buyers. The interactive nature of Internet marketing in terms of providing instant responses and eliciting responses are the unique qualities of the medium. Most established companies are fighting to get a leg up on their competition using web marketing strategies to increase traffic to their company's homepage. Internet marketing helps add potential customers and the number of quality leads to a website as well. In fact, most organizations can adopt Internet marketing and advertising strategies to generate better business. Internet marketing not only refers to marketing on the Internet, but also includes marketing done via e-mail and wireless media. Management of digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems are also often grouped together under internet marketing.


As you can see, now that we've defined "Internet Marketing", the next logical question is "What product or service are you going to market?".
