It is suitable for many applications including digital circuit multiplication equipment, video conferencing, digital telephony and multimedia products. The software encodes 5 sample frames of 16-bit linear PCM data into 10-bit code words. It provides approximately 4 kHz of speech bandwidth. Using backward-adaptive linear predictive coding analysis, it is able to achieve a low trans-coding delay of 2 ms.
