Everybody needs to take time out to look after number one, but in today's busy world, and with finances being squeezed by money worries and recession stress, sometimes it just seems that we don't have the time, money or inclination to take care of ourselves.

Christmas is a great time of year to relax and reflect, and with New Year's resolutions looming on the horizon, it could be argued that it's the perfect time of year to start looking after the people you love by indulging them with the gifts that they probably won't buy for themselves.

It's easy to play it safe with gift buying, and buy chocolates, a DVD, gadgets or even just take the really lazy way out and give someone money towards buying themselves something in the post-Christmas sales. Why go for the lazy option though? If you have a good friend or loved one who really deserves to be spoiled and pampered, though, you could always make their day by giving them the opportunity to treat themselves just a little bit.

Giving somebody a pamper yourself' present doesn't necessarily mean that you have to shell out a lot of money. Of course you could go all the way and treat somebody special to a stay in an upmarket spa, where they will be spoiled, pampered and probably be reluctant to come home again. If your budget doesn't stretch to full on luxury on a long term basis though, you could always opt for another type of pampering spa gift.

If you search online, or in the shops, you'll find a wide variety of beauty and spa gifts that will give someone the opportunity to have a little bit of spoiling without breaking the bank. You could give them a spa voucher to put towards a longer break, a manicure and pedicure session, facial or makeover experience. Some spas offer floatation experience' days where a lucky recipient gets the opportunity to truly relax and float all their cares away in a tranquil atmosphere.

If your budget is really limited, you could always opt to treat someone special to carefully selected spa products and treatments which are easily available on the high street. Many of the top spas in the UK have worked with supermarkets and major retailers to produce their very own spa ranges so that people can try out gorgeous spa treatments in the comfort of their own home for a fraction of the price of a spa or salon beauty treatment. Delicious smelling body scrubs, face masks, lotions and potions are all on sale in various ranges, so that you can treat someone to a spa experience in their own bathroom all they need to do is light a few scented candles, dim the lights and make believe they're relaxing in an upmarket spa.

It's easy to give someone a relaxing spa experience whatever your budget, so with a little thought you can really make someone's day...and make them take some time out for themselves.
