Well, Chelsea Clinton's hush-hush wedding may as well be classified but one thing is no secret: There will be tears. The only child of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will marry longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky this month in a ceremony that has withstood leaks better than many secrets in Washington. What a thrilling surprise to the world! I really look forward to that big day in which the spotlight Chelsea...more
Single working mothers have perhaps the toughest job of all, in having to take care of their families on their own. Single working mothers have probably the hardest job of all, in having to take care of their families on their own. Higher education is only a wish or a goal that has to be put on hold in order to take care of other responsibilities, for many moms. President Obama, together with his new administration, is, however, encouraging moms to make their education a priority. Obama scholarships will offer working mothers a great chance to improve their futures. Obama, whilst encouraging people of all ages to seek higher education, is urging working moms in particular to participate in his Scholarships for Moms program. The Scholarships for Moms program builds on the federal government's long-standing offer of Pell grants. The most commonly applied for forms of aid for students going to college are Pell grants, applied for through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. The Obama administration, to encourage more mothers to return to school, is now making some changes. For the Scholarships for Moms program, the biggest incentive is with the amount of money being offered. The maximum amount awarded through Pell grants is about $4,000 per student, but for mothers...more
"Wag the Dog" is a euphemism for when a politician in troubleĀ wages a war or does some other diversion to get the heat off his back. President Obama, it appears to me, is doing a "Wag the Mosque" as a smokescreen for a tanking deflation economy during his administration and to help his party's election chances in the November 2010...more

Junior colleges frequently get a bad rap. Trying to attend school as a mother, however, means seriously looking into junior college options. Community colleges welcome bright students, and they have many benefits to offer. Earning money to go to school is also an important but not impossible task. It's a big myth that junior colleges aren't for serious students. The truth is that junior colleges are a welcoming environment that is usually close to home, relatively inexpensive and full of challenging course offerings. The community college system is ideal for moms who don't have a lot of time or extra money on their hands. Initiated in 2009, President Obama's Grants for Moms are aimed at alleviating some of the financial pressure moms have in trying to go to school. Getting $5,000 can go a long way toward earning a professional degree. One of the biggest attractions to junior colleges is the financial savings. Being smart with money is a top priority for most students but especially women with children. A $5,000 grant doesn't change that. The cost of attendance at junior colleges is often half that of 4-year schools. Having high SAT scores and GPA could result in a...more
