Argentina winning was our bet of the day, so we are not surprised. We do feel a little sorry for Mexico however, as they started well and the first goal for Argentina was as offside as the ball was over the line in the Germany win over England when the referee didn't see that one too.

England went 2-0 down in this game, got one back and should have had an equaliser when a Frank Lampard shot hit the crossbar and bounced down 50cm over the line. The referee didnt give it and the linesman didnt see it.

Had the referee given the goal the second half could have been different and Gareth Barry might not have demonstrated why he really isnt good enough for the national side and I might be writing about how England could win the World Cup.

You don't get many bigger games in football than Germany v England and it is a game that means so much to so many and I'm one of those that don't think this game will go to penalties and I'm convinced it will be won before they are needed.

But that could very well be because I do not want to see penalties as I don't think they are really that fair, even though I can't come up with a better solution for finding a winner.

We really did think that this game had United States written all over it but at the end of the day, Ghana had more in the locker and they opened up the locker tonight.

Ghana will go on to play Uruguay after that win but Uruguay will be, or should be, the more confident of the two sides and while we don't feel let down by the United States - they had plenty of shots saved tonight - we do feel like they lacked something.
