As kids we used to watch our dads working away in their little office furniture cubicles
like ants who dutifully manage the one or two assigned to them, thinking nothing about themselves. Did they seem to be happy with their work? That kind of office environment seems like drab and gray to us today. The tables and desks lacked character, with the usual heavy metal chairs which were too small to be of any real use. Everything seemed institutional and bland.
Of course the directors office was different. He was the boss so he got to enjoy the perquisite of having his own office with no boring office furniture in there. His cubic seemed so big and impressive with leather studded chair and tall wall shelves full of important looking books; extra tables and chairs, and even a couch. The desk stacked with file folders and papers to emphasis the importance of his position. Our fathers longed for those huge windows which blew in fresh air and those comforts which a director or the boss used to enjoy. But times have changed now!
Now, as we sit in our ergonomically correct office chair, surrounded by truly functional office cubicle. We are not the boss, yet we enjoy nicer furniture around us. This is the difference we as modern worker enjoy today. We have the privacy and quiet we need along with lots of storage space and shelving. Attractive colors and designs, with a beautiful desk, bookcase, and credenza. Our modern office cubicles come with richly appointed warm elegance. Our work area is not only a versatile and functional surrounding, but at the same time its stylish and welcoming. We dont dread coming into the office like our fathers. These cubicles with designer handles, ball-bearing drawer slides and so much room for projects that its possible to arrange everything in our way without letting the space cramp our style and creativity.
And that is one of the greatest advantages we as modern workers enjoy with office cubicles and furniture of today. It makes workers more productive and happy. It can be expanded as the need of business grows, and it comes in a huge variety of configurations, colors, and styles. Furniture like office desks, conference tables, reception desks, comfortable chairs, efficient filing systems, printer stands and computer stations, completes a workstation and cubicle.
When setting up a new business or a new workspace, be it home office or business office, what needs to be kept in mind is the workers are as important as the boss. It is not enough for the boss to lay a lavish office cubicle for himself, but his employees too should have the privilege of the same facilities.
