I replaced my battery over the summer and a few months later my hard drive crashed. I sent out my pc to have the hard drive replaced and when I got it back my battery would no longer hold a charge for even a second. I've taken it into 2 different Circuit City's, one told me that my battery was fine and it was an internal hardware problem and the other said to replace my battery. I'm waiting on a new battery currently, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and knew what the issue really is.

I replaced the battery in my 5 year old HP Pavillion for the first time in 12/08.The new onestopped working last week. I was told the battery was under one year manufacturers warranty but because my lap top is now considered obsolete, HP will not replace the battery. This makes no sense to me. If the Laptop is obsolete, why am I able to purchase more batteries via HP?

Furthermore; the customer service and tech support agents are in Asia. I had to keep repeating myself when I was explaining the problem to the first tech. He still did not get it. I had to call back 4 times before I got someone that was remotely concerned with my issue. I just ordered a third lap top from HP. I am tempted to send it back once it arrives this week. They are nice, concerned and helpful when you are purchasing, but they drop the ball during my service call.

Not so recently, my HP Pavilion dv5 started to crash, overheat and the battery would hold no charge. After crashing, I could not restart it until I removed the battery.

I had it under full warranty, so after it was sent away, and came back, I was told it was a defective battery.

I was also told by the employee at the store I bought it from, the following: "Who knows, it might have been defective from the beginning."

But HP would not cover a new battery and wanted me to buy a new one for $126.

Needless to say, there was no way I was going to do that.

So, we talked to a manager at said store, and bought a 12-cell battery for the discounted price of $50 because she "thought it was asinine that they wouldn't cover something that was defective."

So there's my story.

Original Poster, I would just suggest buying a new battery, because, chances are, your's is defective too.
