12 Facebook Building Tips to Help you GROW!
If you are serious about building your business and working on Personal Branding
to help you generate a following that will help your business to grow then you will need to learn the ropes of Faceboook to help you get seen. I hope you will find these tips helpful in getting out there on Facebook to help you grow.
Create Your FaceBook Profile ~ Simply visitwww.Facebook.com and fill out the form right there on the homepage to create your very own Facebook profile. This is an extremely simple step and you'll be set up in no time at all. Once you have your Facebook Profile activated you'll be able to place your personal information within your Profile. This is an important step as this will allow people to find you.
Create Your Facebook Profile ~ Simply visit www.Facebook.com and fill out the form right there on the homepage to create your very own Facebook profile. This is an extremely simple step and you'll be set up in no time at all. Once you have your Facebook Profile activated you'll be able to place your personal information within your Profile. This is an important step as this will allow people to find you.
Fan/Like Page ~ Once you have created your profile you will now want to create you Like/Fan page (depending on what you want to call it). To set up your Like Page visit: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
? and you'll be able to set your Like/Fan page up quickly. The great thing about the Fan/Like page is the fact a person can choose to "Like" your page without being your friend. This will get you more exposure quicker. You can visit my Fan/Like Page:

FRIENDS, FRIENDS and More FRIENDS ~ Since we're here to Network and get out there we need to have people to share our information with right? Well, you'll start this by searching for some people you already currently know. Maybe you already have a business so you'll want to add some of your business partners. You will still want to Network with others not in your business as we're working on Personal Branding right? So, you'll want to search for others who are there to Network. Maybe view friends of your friends and submit a FR (Friend Request). When sending a FR it is polite for you to also submit a short note with that request as if you don't you may get ignored and we don't want that. A sample note to an old friend "Hey, great to see you on here and I'm looking forward to catching up on old times!" to a person you don't know "Hi there, I see you are here to network and I thought we'd have much in common! Looking forward to networking with you." send Now the cool thing about Facebook is that after you have friends you'll begin to see in your friends section "Friends You MIGHT Know". You'll then have more people to send a FR to. IMPORTANT You do not want to send more than 50 requests a day. Maybe up to 100 but I shoot for 50 a day. Anymore than that and you'll be red flagged and be given a warning as that is frowned upon with Facebook. But, any new friends you add daily is adding to your Networking!
Post to Your Profile and Fan/Like Page ~ This is something you'll want to keep up on. You want to make updates to your News Feeds at least twice each day. Be careful to what you post on your feed as your friends won't want to know every little detail of your life. You might want to share with them you're working on a new article or that you are spending the evening off with your loved one. Leave an encouraging quote. You don't only want to have quotes though, you want to give them content they can re-postand share with their networks as well. Share some videos and things that many people will enjoy!
Don't get SUCKED IN ~ WOW, this can be a BIGGIE! Make sure that you do not get sucked into all the Facebook applications and games. There are thousands of them and they can be addicting. Trust me, I speak from past experience as I was addicted to Sorority Life. Fortunately I broke myself of the games and I'm there to work. Don't get me wrong, I do have my fun on there but for the most part I'm not spending hours playing games anymore.
View Your News Feed & Comment ~ When you first log into Facebook you land on your "home page" and this is where you will see all the recent updates your friends have added to their news feeds. You want to Network and so you want to read through the news feeds and comment on their feeds. This will allow you to be seen on FB and you'll get new friends and you'll get more hit to your own profile.
Blogging? Then Share ~ If you are a blogger there is a phenomenal tool on FB and its calls
Networked Blogs. This is an application that will help you out. You can join Networked Blogs and syndicate your feeds to your profile, fan pages and groups. This gets your content out there for others to read and then share. Remember, if you want others to share your stuff then you need to return the favor and share others.
Join Groups ~ Groups are a great way to get out there and network and find new people to network with. After all that's what we're trying to accomplish here. What ever you are interested in you'll want to find groups geared around that. You can search for Network Marketing, Online Marketing, Work At Home and many more. Join the groups and participate. Share your knowledge and help others. This will help you to gain trust and a following.
NEVER PITCH Your Business ~ Facebook is not a place for you to spam and throw your business in the face of others. I'm sorry but its just plain rude. I felt bad as the other day I removed a friend as he was spamming my wall with his affiliate links. That's not the place for sharing your information. Following the steps above will help you to have Facebook etiquette. Your working on Personal Branding here and so you want to promote yourself and not your business. You want to gain trust from your followers and understand that in return you will be able to better build your business as people will come to you wanting to work with YOU.
Share Twitter ~If you have a Twitter Account then you'll want to place that on your Profile and your Fan/Like Page. This will help you to grow your Twitter following as well. In order to place your Twitter account on your Profile and Fan/Like Pages you simply need to get the Twitter Application at: http://apps.facebook.com/smarttwitterpages/ and you will be able to link your Tweets to your Facebook Fan/Like Page.
Share Your Blog On Menu Bar of Pages~ If you have a blog then you will want to share that on your Profile Page and your Fan/Like Page. You should have already joined Networked Blogs on Facebook and added your blog. If you not yet done so simply visit:http://apps.facebook.com/blognetworks/ Once you have this application you can then visit your Profile and click the + in the Menu and type in NetworkedBlogs and then you've just added your Blog to your Menu. Now, anyone visiting your profile has instant access to your Blog Feeds! Do the same for your Fan/Like Page
Have FUN ~ When it comes to getting yourself out there it is important for you to have fun with what you are doing. Make sure that you Tweeting and Posting about things you are passionate about. Share good quality information with others and have fun networking. When you love what you are doing you will have great success!
For now, these 12 steps should help to get you seen on Facebook and get you started in building a good online presence. Be sure to consistently work at this and understand you're not going to be at the top over night. This is something you'll work at and over time you'll watch it grow into something AMAZING!
