3 Email Marketing Mistakes You Can Avoid

Just because you have an email list does not mean any type of email marketing is acceptable

. Many Internet marketers make the mistake of thinking any email they send out is going to benefit their business as they try to make money online.

In reality there are email marketing mistakes that are made every day. To be truthful with you these can be avoided if you know what they are. I have made some of these myself.

In this article were going to talk about 3 common email marketing mistakes you can avoid.

1. Sending out spam. Spam can be avoided right from the very beginning when people opt in to your list.

Most autoresponders suggest you use the double opt in method. This means people fill in a form that they submit. They are taken to a webpage that tells them to check their email and click on the link giving you permission to send send them the information they are requesting.

The other thing to do is be more informational in your email messages initially. Don't worry about selling anything until people get to know who you are.

You can greatly cut down on the number of spam complaints if people know who you are, and your subscribers want to hear from you. By not spending too much time on advertising and marketing upfront you can benefit from it later on.

2. Don't forget to promote something. I'm always amazed at people who build a list and then don't try to sell things to it.

What's the point of having a list of subscribers if you can't make money from your list? After you get through the initial relationship building phase you do want to promote things to your subscribers on a consistent basis.

This doesn't mean you have to promote everything you come across either. Be selective and promote things you really believe in and you will make sales doing it.

3. Pre-program your autoresponder. I have been guilty of only putting in a certain amount of prewritten autoresponder messages in advance.

Many autoresponder to let you preprogram messages to your list that go out as long as five years or even more. To space these out 4 or 5 days you are going to need about 80 email messages per year.

Set a goal to write 400 email messages of around 150 to 200 words and get them in your autoresponder. Let this drip information and promote products for you and you will develop a steady stream of income. If this seems impossible to do hire a content writer to do it for you.

These are 3 email marketing mistakes you can avoid with a little bit of thought and work on your part.
