3 Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Start Writing Copy

If you want cash-in-hand buyers, your website copy has to do the job of really selling your product

. By the time a prospect is finished reading your sales letter, he should be thoroughly convinced that your product is the right one for him. How do you get your sales letter to perform this well? There a few things actually, and this article will share them with you.

I will ask you some questions about your current copy and I would like for you to answer these questions truthfully. Remember, you're only hurting yourself and your business if you don't stand up to these questions, so be sure to be honest when answering them. Here's the first question that I would like to ask you about your copy.

1) What's different about your product?

If you're selling a "me-too" product, you don't stand a chance of differentiating yourself from the competitors. Your sales copy should describe your product in a way that makes it totally different from the competition. When you look at your sales copy, ask yourself, "does my product really seem like everyone else's?" "Am I doing a good job of describing my product in a unique way to my consumer?" "What else can I do to make my product stand out from the crowd?"

All of these questions must be answered if you want to have the copywriting success that you dream about. If you can be honest with yourself here at this stage, then you stand a good chance at having your sales letter succeed for you. Here's question number 2.

2) What are the benefits and features?

One thing that you should know is that features tell and benefits sell. When looking at your sales copy, are you really describing the features and benefits of your product? Are you showing them the value and showing your prospect what they will get from doing business with you? Here's a great tip for showing your prospects value.

One thing that you should do is make a list of features and benefits. You want to use this list when you write out the bullet points for your sales copy. For each feature that you jot down, try to think of an equal and opposite benefit for your product. This is the easiest way to show a user what's in it for them and what they will receive from doing business with you.

3) Have I targeted my market well?

To be on the ball with your sales copy, you really have to know the needs and wants of your target market. To write effective copy, market research is key. To gain an idea of what your prospects are looking for, start off by going to forums where you know they hangout at. You can be a guest and just read what they post on the forum pages. This will give you a good idea of what they're looking for in a solution to their problems.

To find forums in your niche, simply go to Google and type in your niche's name followed by the word "forum". So if you sell basketball products, type in "basketball forum" in Google and watch the results come up. This is an easy way to find out what people in your market are looking for and is a great way to stay on top of your market.

To have success with your copywriting, all of these things are necessary.

Be sure to start using these tips today so that you can start writing more effective copy now.
