*** Do Not Quit Smoking! Click Here *** With the new year fast approaching, we start thinking about our new year's resolutions. At the top of the list for many of us is to Quit Smoking Cigarettes. Which believe me I know is one of the hardest things that we may do in our lifetime. I know how ridiculous that must sound to non-smokers, with all the difficult situations we have in our lifetime. I can only say from experience of smoking for more then 37 years it is a extraordinarily difficult habit to overcome. Today more then ever I think we all realize that you just cannot keep smoking. It has become an embarrassing habit to have. No one wants to admit to smoking, and when we meet new people we certainly won't smoke in front of them. These are just a couple of tips I thought maybe helpful when you decide to quit smoking. 1. Walking, walking, and then some more walking. I know the experts all recommend exercise, and naturally everyone should exercise for a variety of reasons, especially for our health. But right now why I say just keep walking is because it really can take your mind off of having a cigarette. When you exercise for 20 minutes or so which is great, your probably not going to do it more then once a day, if that. Where as you can walk many times during the day and evening, with no special clothes or gym appointments. Especially after having any kind of meal, you should just get up and start walking, even if you can't get outside. I use to walk in place in front of the TV just to keep moving. It also starts a new routine for you at a time when most likely you would of had a cigarette. 2. Water, not coffee, and not soda and really not alcohol. Believe it or not, water really does take the edge off of wanting a cigarette. I have no idea why it works but it does. I always used a straw also, that maybe one of reasons I found water to work so well. Fill up a big glass with water and a slice lemon works well also, but don't forget the straw, and keep your water close to you all day and evening so you can have a sip whenever you feel the urge for a cigarette. 3. Try new things that you can do that will not remind you smoking. Many people do knitting, scrapbooking, and all sorts of crafts that they either never did or use to do no smoking. It is really important to find some outlet for yourself that you will not associate with a cigarette. I also think that it has to be something that you can do alone and not need other people for, because that can set you up for failure if you depend on someone else to do a craft of hobby with and they can't make it, then you will have time on your hands and that is never good for any of us who want to quit smoking. So try and find something that you can enjoy doing without the help of others.About the Author:
