3 Ways To Give Yourself An Instant Fitness Boost

If you're attending London gyms regularly, it's likely that you already have a high level of fitness

. If you're not carrying out regular exercise, however, yet are considering doing so but want to give yourself a fitness boost beforehand, take a look through these 3 points.

1. Cut out all fatty and sugary foods - if you're the type of person to eat a lot of chocolate or sweets or have 8 cups of coffee a day with 2 sugars in each, in between having lunch and dinner that is particularly high in fat, cut out a substantial amount of your daily fats and sugars and you'll almost instantly feel more alert and ready to tackle the day.

Simply put, the more sugar and fats you eat, the more your body becomes accustomed to them and the greater level of fatigue you feel. Remove them and although you'll feel some withdrawal symptoms at first if you're used to consuming a high number of sugars or fats, these will soon go and you'll be feeling a lot better than you had previously.

2. Don't listen to national diet programmes too strictly - many of the major diet programmes that you can join all follow the same principles and whilst they all vary in what you can and can't eat when looking at specific items, a substantial amount of foods are classed as good, low calorie foods that you can eat in abundance on most diets.


However, just because these items are low calorie doesn't mean that they're good for you.

Take a drink such as diet cola as an example. Although it may not contain any sugars and be free to drink on most national diet programmes, it's in fact recommended that you stop drinking it if you want to give your body a health and fitness boost - or if you listen to some professionals, want to live a problem free life in terms of your health.

The reason behind this is one ingredient, aspartame, which is an artificial sweetener used to give the drink its sweet taste.

Reports vary on its usage quite substantially, but some of the more drastic and serious reports state that it can have an effect on your mental health - a study by Dr Walton, an experienced psychiatrist, gave 80 people (split approximately in half, with 50 percent having some form of psychiatric issue in the past and 50 percent not having any known issues) either 30 milligrams of aspartame or a placebo to consume each day for just under 3 weeks.


Although only 13 people finished the study, it was noted that aspartame had a distinct negative effect on those people with previous psychiatric problems. Furthermore, it was found that a range of symptoms were felt by those taking the aspartame regularly, including tiredness, sickness and mild memory loss.

3. Get enough sleep - although it's drilled into us since being a child that we need to get 8 hours sleep a day, Professor Jim Horne from Loughborough University's Sleep Research Centre told the BBC on 12 April 2007 that this is untrue. Professor Horne explained that although around 7 or 8 hours sleep may be the average that someone sleeps, it's not something that you need to look to achieve - you may only need 5 or 6 hours.

However many hours sleep you need, whether it's 2 or 12, make sure you get it every night and you're body will thank you for it, rewarding you with increased levels of stamina and a greater ability to focus..
