Is there anything more inviting than an organized garage
? Imagine pushing the button on your automatic garage door opener and slowing driving your car into a neat and tidy parking spot surrounded by properly stored bicycles, lawn tools and sports equipment. Ahh, a little piece of Heaven!
As in anything in life, organizing your garage comes down to having a good plan and the right system (i.e. tool storage devices, garage bicycle storage) to make your plan work. Here are some suggestions:
1. Organize With A Purpose. Decide what you want the most and design your garage organization from that idea. Are you looking to create space so you can park your car? Would you really like your garage to become a home workshop? Do you want your kid's toys and sports equipment to be accessible but out of the way?
2. Designate Areas. Group common or seasonal items together. You may want to designate a section of your garage for camping and outdoor items; have another area for hand and gardening tools while a different area stores automotive supplies.
3. Use Your Walls. Shelves, cabinets and racks keep items off the floor and reduce clutter. You garage walls are a wealth of storage space.
4. Use Your Ceiling. Overhead storage is great for occassionally used or seasonal items such as holiday decorations and luggage. You can get overhead storage systems that are stationary or that easily raise and lower with a simple pulley.
5. Pull Out Your Marker. Before storing a box add a label to the containers. It only takes a minute but can save you a ton of time and frustration later.
When you have the right system your garage will get organized quickly and stay organized easily.
