The Pantheon

We have Marcus Agrippa to thank for the creation of the Pantheon, a distinctive building in Rome that should be included on any walking holiday. It was originally built around 126AD, and is a familiar sight owing to its eight distinctive columns at the front. The name of its creator is also featured, written across the front of the building.

The Baths of Caracalla

It is well worth taking the time to visit the Baths of Caracalla, even though they do not look quite the same as they did in their heyday. They were finished around 216 or 217AD, and were named after the Emperor who ruled at the time. One of the highlights of the baths are the mosaic tiles, and while some have been damaged many still remain intact. They are beautifully decorated and fascinating to see, although you will not be allowed to go into every area.
