7 Tips To Make Killer Headlines For A Good Sales Letter
A good sales letter is able to accomplish three things
. First, it should invoke an interest in your readers. Second, it should keep the interest alive all throughout the letter. Third, it should be able to prompt the reader to respond to the call of action. Here are7 tips in writing good headlines.
1. The headline is where you write the most important sentence of your sales letter. Its impact to the readers can come in two types. It can make the reader throw your letter into the bin. It can also make him read more.
As a marketer, you want your letters to be read. Therefore, choose the right words in writing the first two paragraphs of your copy. Create a need for it. Pose a problem. Use a question to stir their emotions and thoughts. This is your headlines. Send the right message. Make it simple, yet compelling.
2. Use sub-headlines. The headlines contain your Unique Selling Proposition. In order to persuade your readers, you need to explain the benefits of your product. What does it do to the readers? Why would the readers buy your product instead of the competitor's?
Explaining each benefit of your product needs several paragraphs. These paragraphs compose your sub-headlines. The more benefits you would like to share, the more sub-headlines you create.
3. Limit your paragraphs to few sentences. Long paragraphs are discouraging to most readers. Just the mere look at it can convince the readers to discard your sales letter without even reading the first sentence.
Hence, it is wise to use four short sentences in your paragraph. If your sentences are long, limit it to three. Sales copy that has more white lines or blank lines is readable and friendly to the reader's eyes.
4. Use Strong Words. Because you need to make your paragraphs short, it is important that you use strong and compelling words. Do not waste the time of your readers by using flowery words.
Make it straightforward. Your words should be powerful to seize their moment and divert their attention to whatever message you would like to present.
5. Set A Time Limit. Most readers are impatient. This is why many products sold online promise results in two weeks, eight weeks or less. They want to make it attractive to the customers and make them need to buy the products.
In writing your sales copy, set a possible time for the results to take effect. Never exaggerate because readers may suspect you as a scam. However, do not set a time, distant for the benefits to take into effect.
6. Create Urgency. Set a deadline for your offer to last. Many commercials and information commercials end up with order now or call now to order. This is to inform them that they should immediately respond to the call.
Now on this part, you have to be realistic. Provide your readers some options such as sending the order form that is previously stamped, answering a survey to evaluate the copy, or to contact you through your website, e-mail address or through snail mail, whichever is more convenient to your readers.
7. Invest Your Emotions. Make it a heartfelt sales copy. When you write the benefits of your products, do it sincerely.
