9 Ways To Finance Your Nursing Education

When you choose a career path for yourself, you choose a good school and then you start to worry about how you are going to afford it

. If you chose the line of healthcare and want to become a nurse, financing the course should not be a worry for you any longer. The US government's Department of Education has a special plan that will help you realize your dream of becoming a nurse.

The demand for the nurses is there and over the next few years, it is only going to increase. In the wake of the growing demand, and the current shortage, the government has started a scheme called the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program or the NELRP. Under the scheme, the government will bear 60 percent of the Registered Nurse's loan, which was taken out at the start of the course. In return, the nurse would be required to work in an area which is facing a nurse shortage, for a minimum of two years. Listed are 9 requirements to check if you are eligible for the program.

*All US citizens, by birth or by law, are allowed to participate under the program.

*You should have completed your Diploma in Nursing, or Associate Degree in Nursing, or Bachelors of Science in Nursing and have a loan to clear.

*You should have a full time employment with a recognized medical or healthcare facility.

*You should have the permission to work and practice in all parts of the country. In order to do this, you should have studied from an institute recognized and accredited to the rightful agencies.

*You are required to process your documents and paperwork and furnish the right papers and proof.

*You should be able to furnish documents that claim that you are not able to finance your course.

*You should not have any history of being a financial defaulter.

*You need to heave a proper and permanent Registered Nurse license. You cannot be a stand by nurse or a temporary nurse and get the NELRP.

*You have to keep your word and serve as per requirement for two years.

If you fulfill the criteria, you will be given a choice or preference as to where you want to work. You can also work at the said place for a third year and the government will pay off another 25 percent of your loan. Congratulations, if you just found a way to realize your dream.
