A Bore Laser Sight Makes Sighting a New Gun in Easy

When a person gets a new gun they can't wait to take it out and shoot it. But, there are a few things that need to be done before any gun is ready to be shot. One thing is to make sure that the gun is properly sighted in. There are tools that a person can use to make it a quicker and easier job. One of those tools is a bore laser sight.

Unlike other sights, a bore sight isn't used when aiming to sight a rifle. Instead it is used to make sure that the sights that came with the gun are correct. It is possible to adjust those sights, but before that can be done it is necessary to know how out of adjustment they are.

The way a bore laser sight works is that it attaches to the barrel of the gun. It does this with a mandrel that attach to the sight itself. The sight is then seated inside the barrel. The laser sight will come with a selection of mandrels to fit any sized barrel. Once the sight is in the gun barrel and the laser is turned on it shows the track that the bullet will take.

The first thing to do is to make sure that the gun is safe. A bore laser sight should never be used with a loaded gun, and a gun should never be shot while one of the sights is in the barrel. Empty the gun of all ammunition and make sure that the safety is on. Once that has been done it is time to start the actual sighting process.

A gun can't be properly sighted in when a person is holding it. No matter how steady they are trying to be, there will be some movement. The best way to do it is to use sandbags to steady a rifle or a vise for a handgun. The gun needs to be flat and stable without anyone holding it. The target should be approximately 30 feet from the gun for a rifle and 10 feet for a handgun.

Then the sight should be turned on and the light set on the center of the target. Looking through the gun's sights, gradually adjust them until the cross hairs are on the red dot. When they match, take the laser bore sight out and place one round of ammunition in the gun. Using the sights on the gun, aim for the center of the target. The shot should be very close to the center, less than inch off. If it isn't then the process should be repeated.

Instead of having to spend a lot of time and waste a lot of ammo trying to get a new gun sighted in quickly, save time and money by doing it with a bore laser sight.
