A Cerec Dentist Saves Time And Money
The advancements in dentistry in recent years have made it easier and more comfortable to have all sorts of procedures
. Technology has allowed dental professionals the ability to complete in one sitting used to require several weeks and many appointments. One such advancement is the increasing prevalence of using a CEREC dentist for restorations and reconstructions of damaged or missing teeth. This system is faster, more affordable, and far more precise than any other previous system for accomplishing this work.
The major tools used in this procedure are the computer and machinery that the CEREC dentist uses to photograph and scan the mouth. Using a three-dimensional imaging camera it is possible to scan and determine the exact dimensions and contour of the tooth being treated. After the image is assembled it is sent to the computer. Here the dental practitioner uses CAD and proprietary software to shape and refine the image to better suit the needs of the restoration and make it fit well with adjacent structures of the mouth. Following completion of the design, the data is uploaded to a milling machine that forms the material out of ceramic or composite material. In under half an hour the piece has been fabricated and is ready to be installed as a crown, inlay, or veneer.
This process saves an incredible amount of time. In the past it was necessary to come in and have the doctor shave and shape the area to prepare it for a crown. Then, a temporary crown would be work while a permanent piece was completed. Most of this time this process took three to four weeks. Often, the temporary was uncomfortable, did not fit well, and stood out in the mouth. With a CEREC dentist the process is done in one visit. In fact, because of the precision of the software and milling machine, the actual construction can be over in as little as four minutes.
In addition to saving time and discomfort, a CEREC dentist saves a patient money. First of all, one visit to the clinic is obviously cheaper than multiple. Also, because the ceramic used is very similar to the natural material of the tooth it bonds very durably. Additionally, because it is so precisely bonded to the surface there is far less risk of dislodgement or loss of the restoration. These two things translate to more permanent replacements, which save money over the occasional need to replace the restoration.
A CEREC dentist allows a patient to restore their smile in one easy visit. This saves them time, money, and discomfort over more traditional tooth replacements. Because more of the natural teeth are retained, these also are more comfortable over the long term. Many local care providers are offering this new procedure it just requires some research
