A Few Energy Saving Tips For Your Coolers

It is important that businesses minimize the amounts of energy they use

. If you are using a cooler or several of them in your business then you are keenly aware of the energy they consume in the form of electricity and how much this expense adds to your overheads. Fortunately, there are simple things that you can do to effectively slash your energy bill quite significantly. To prevent your refrigerator from wasting energy you need to do is prevent it from overworking; ideally, when a refrigerator is operating optimally it uses only the required amount of energy. There are many things that people do unwittingly and which force their refrigerators to overwork corrective measures for some of these are discussed here.

One thing you must ensure is that there is free circulation of air within the cooler. It has been proven that if a cooler is sparsely stocked more energy is consumed because there is more air to be cooled. It is therefore advised that you stock your glass door merchandisers to near capacity - without overfilling them - so that there will be less air to be cooled and enough space to allow it to circulate freely. If you have two refrigerators with just a little food in each you can preserve all the food in one and turn off the other one.

Still on the subject of air circulation, you need to ensure that air is flowing freely around the refrigerator. This is because heat from inside the refrigerator is transferred to the outside and it therefore needs to be quickly dispersed. If the refrigerator is squeezed tightly between other fixtures then it will consume considerably more energy because it will be struggling to transfer heat from inside to the outside.

Coolers that are used as glass door merchandisers for foods and drinks will in most cases be illuminated with light bulbs. Most bulbs used for this purpose pose a problem for two reasons. One is that they use a lot of energy especially if they remain alight for a long time. Secondly, they produce heat that subsequently raises the temperature within the cooler and which in turn forces it to expend more energy. You should therefore avoid such lighting unless you consider it very necessary in which case you should consider using LED lighting seeing as it uses much less energy and produces no heat.

Do not put hot or warm food inside the cooler because the food will quickly raise the temperature within the cooler and force the cooler to work harder to cool down to the preset levels. Instead, allow food to cool down to room temperature on the kitchen counter before transferring it to the refrigerator. With these simple tips you should be able to save a few more dollars from your monthly electricity bill.
