A Few Golf Tips To Help The Beginning Golfer

Everybody who plays golf always seems to want to improve something. It is their handicap, their backswings, or their grip. Well, here are a few tips to help lower your golf score. These tips are for beginners so anybody who has played golf for awhile or are a golf prodigy, you probably already know these.

To get a clean iron shot your ball should be hit downward. That's probably easier said then done. What I do is make sure my golf ball is in an optimum position. Depending on which size iron you use the ball will be in different positions.

For shorter irons such as 8 or 9 irons and your wedges, you should position the ball in the middle of your stance.

Mid irons which include 5, 6, and 7 irons should have your ball positioned an inch or so forward from the center of your stance.

If you are using 3 or 5 woods or hybrid clubs then place the ball approximately 2 inches forward from the center of your stance.

When you are using your driver you should place the golf ball approximately 3 inches from the center of your stance.

Downswing Tip

When you execute your downswing, your weight should be shifted to the left. Your hips, shoulders, and arms will follow this weight shift. When you are hitting the golf ball make sure your head is behind the ball. As you are striking the ball keep turning your body so your arms and club are facing toward where you want the ball to go.

To make sure you have proper body movement when executing your downswing remember these tips.

- Your belt buckle should be facing your target.

- Most of your weight is on your left leg.

- Your right foot should be upright on your toes.

Backswing Tip

When you are performing your backswing start rotating at the waist with your arms and body moving together and shift your weight to your right leg. Cock your wrists at about waist level. At the very top of your swing, your left arm should be straight; your weight should be mostly on your right leg with your knee flexed. Rotation of your shoulders should be 90 degrees at the top of your swing and about 30 to 45 degrees at your hips.

So if you're a beginner golfer you just might find a useful tip here to help lower your golf score.
