How to give a good speech after dinner is not known to many people

. An after dinner speaker must consider many things before the actual speech. It is not like you are speaking at your relative's social event. Many similar events might have many among the audience who are much more well-informed and literate than the speaker. so, evaluation of listener is a necessary step before the actual speech. This is a simple task when you consider the listener's dress, event type, number of male and female attendee, age and much more things. The country of origin is another important factor for after dinner speech, as the speaker might say something that might be considered as offending for a particular country. A good after dinner speaker does a lot of research before they give their speech.

Entertainment must be in the speech of after dinner speakers. Speakers must be able to look directly into the eye of anyone among the audience and address the in entertaining way. you are not supposed to harass your audience. A simple friendly gesture or playful engagement of the audience is the best way to go.

An after dinner speaker should never drink before a speech. People expect a sober speaker, so it is a must A drunken man/woman is not what people expect when they hear a speech. Another very important norm that an after dinner speaker must follow is to not make the speech too long. Entertaining audience is fine but one should not take the speech to the point where audience become bore of him/her. A sly speaker knows when to take his leave and can predict when the audience would be beyond satisfaction from his/her speech. 20 minutes to 30 minutes is the ideal length for any type of after dinner speech.
