A Leaking Boiler Leads To Leaking Pockets A Guide To Buying A New Boiler
There is at least once in a persons life where you just wish you had that extra bit
of hot water (and probably more if you had a partner who loves baths as much as mine). So you go to put the boiler on and put your feet up for a bit waiting for the water to heat up. You finally get in the shower or bath which you have longed for after a hard day in the office, and then the water only lasts a few minutes, whats going on!
Naturally after this you are pretty fed up, so you inspect the boiler only to find there is a leak, its not heating properly or there is another fault, typical. And so the journey begins to finding a new boiler, one that doesnt cost the world but is reliable.
Looking around the internet can certainly be a never ending task, with the seemingly never ending amount of websites offering very similar products. This can become even more frustrating, and then you find yourselves splashing out unnecessarily and wasting hard earned money on a top of the range boiler, which will do exactly the same job as a cheaper model.
Before starting to look for a new boiler you should make sure that firstly it is not repairable, and if it is, find out the cost involved for making the repair. Weigh up your options before deciding whether a new boiler is the best solution.
If you do decide to go down the route of having a new boiler there are some considerations that should be taken into account before purchasing.
Firstly consider the number of bathrooms in the household as this can play an important part when deciding on the capacity of the boiler, as this will undoubtedly increase the demand on the system.
Secondly check to see whether you are after a gas or electric boiler as prices will vary greatly depending on which you choose. Gas boilers may seem more expensive at first, but are considered to be better value for money. Whereas the electric counter parts are more affordable to begin with but depending on the energy rating may cost you more in bills on a monthly basis.
And thirdly decide on whether you need a regular system or a combi boiler. It is most likely that if you live in a flat or small house you are more likely to be looking for a combi boiler to save space, than a bigger house which will require the regular systems.
Once you have thought above each of the above it is then time to start looking around for the best deals. Do not just go to one store as it is more than likely that cheaper deals can be found elsewhere. Make a note of the places you visit and their prices, and once you have a fairly comprehensive list you are then ready to make your decision.
Ahh and now its time to go and rest in that bath...
