A Mouthwash That Causes Temporary Taste Loss

Simple brushing of the teeth can cure a disease which this dentist tries to look a remedy for

. He says some 28 million people in the United States alone suffer from advanced periodontitis or gum disease. A lot of people will lose their healthy teeth at an early age because of this gum disease. Even if the disease could not kill, the Americans still spend $5 billion every year on dental health according to the University of Washington's center for research in oral biology.

To interdisciplinary fight gum disease, it must consist of medicine and dentistry studies as well as research in electrical engineering. Regular brushing and flossing is the most effective preventive measure according to their research. Collagen aids in tightly placing the teeth in the bone in its proper position. If the wirelike protein called collagen is disturbed, a person will develop plaque and will eventually lose teeth.

Bugs or microorganisms consists 99 percent of plaque. They induce inflammation of the gums and the supporting structure beneath. Bacteria will be able to wrap itself on the surface of the teeth and worse, if without proper brushing and flossing, it will continually destroy and conquer the teeth. But because a lot of people won't brush their teeth, the public's need for a cure increases and the research for it continues. Earlier this year, it was reported that a mouthwash from Europe prevents plaque build up by killing bacteria in the mouth.

According to the dentist, it was in World War II when the British used bactericide chlorohexidine to cleanse surgical equipment. This substance was used as a mouthwash by a Danish scientist which somehow worked but still with a few drawbacks. One of its flaws was that it stains the teeth black after a moment of applying it. According to him, one of the causes is temporary loss of taste.

Blackening of the teeth and not being able to taste are nothing compared to a greater problem which is the risk of having cancer. Although for a long period of time, we take drugs with this kind of molecular structure and even inject it in animals and now, it is founded to cause cancer. And yet, that drug brings another problem. Your mouth can be too clean because of it.

Let's say that all the bugs are killed by sterilizing your mouth. These bugs that you try to kill live in our entire gastrointestinal tract. Because of these bugs, we are able to have a smooth digestion, a sound human system metabolism, and enjoy a bunch of Vitamin K.

I'm not even sure if having a drug that could destroy plaque would be a good or bad thing. I will definitely bet my money on bacteria outsmarting drugs. All gum disease is the result of being forgetful. Brushing will definitely work if they just remember to do it. With this practiced, the disease could be treated. But in my own opinion, most of the public will not do it.
