A Not-So-Perfect Classic from Nokia by:Simon Drew
This new Nokia 6730 Classic smartphone recently launched gets exclusive distribution from Vodafone
. It now proceeds from a successful line-up of mobile handsets from the Vodafone-Nokia collaboration. This is a feature-rich mid-priced smartphone with which Nokia hopes to reach a wide market pinning for a good value handset.
Running on the latest Symbian S60 release, the new Nokia 6730 Classic supports just about everything the 21st century crowd has come to expect from a mobile phone. It's a smartphone that leverages the reliability and excellent value of Nokia mobile phones in its class and price point.
High End Features
The Nokia 6730 comes out with exclusive Vodafone support and is one of the latest Nokia Classic mobile phones that inherit great features from its older N series. Yes, features we once saw on high-end smartphones, not just Nokias, are now very much present in many mid-priced phones. With technical innovations fast streaming down into mass products, we can expect more of these to be seen even on budget mobile phones. Check these out.
- The 2.2-inch LCD TFT display features a 240 x 320 pixel resolution with 16M colors.
- It measures 112 x 46 x 12.6mm and weighs a mere 83g, one of the lightest mobiles phones in the market.
- It's a Quad-band GDM phone that supports 3g, HSDPA and HSUPA (3.5G) for a remarkably fast downloading on the internet.
- It sports a 3.15 mega pixel camera with auto focus and captures VGA video at 15fps video.
- Internal memory is an ample 48MB expandable to 8GB via a microSD slot.
- You can enjoy up to 10 hours of talk time and 500 hours of stand-by.
- There's Bluetooth v2.0 +EDR support with A2DP for using wireless Bluetooth stereo headphones.
- It's got FM radio with RDS
- There's USB charging with simultaneous high-speed data transfers over USB 2.0.
Some caveats
Nokia must have felt some features as frivolous for a price-friendly phone targeted to a wider crowd. There's no Wi-Fi on the Nokia 6730 classic, so you can't browse the internet on many hotspots out there. Its camera does not have auto focus - something quite common among mid-price camera phones. The 2.2" screen is rather small compared to others in its price point. Nokia does have to strip down on the features to bring the phone closer to mass markets.
But at its price point, there's really nothing to complain about. The phone may look cheap but it's a standout in terms of feature/price ratio.
