A Quick Education Of Different Kinds Of Cysts Natural Cures For Ovarian Cysts

Just recently I have had two family members that were diagnosed with Ovarian Cysts

. It has been kind of like Robert Frosts poem about the road not taken my aunt decided to go the route of modern medicine and my cousin went the route of finding a natural cure for permanently removing the cysts.

Being the worry wart that I am, I decided to put on my thinking cap and research exactly what an Ovarian Cyst is and also what cysts are in general. I am very close with my family and was hoping to be some kind of hero and come up with a medical cure! I was blown away when I found out how many different kinds of cysts there are and that some are even normal to have!

The first group of cysts are Functional Cysts (again, I cant believe that a cyst could ever be functional). You have follicle cyst that forms when the sack keeps growing and doesnt release the egg during a womans menstrual cycle, although it sounds scary, the cyst generally goes away in 2 months or so. You also have a Corpus Luteum Cyst. This is when a cyst will form if the sac does not dissolve after the egg is released; it seals up and creates a pouch filled with fluid that in some cases can grow to over 3 inches. OUCH! They can bleed and cause pain. In most cases they are not cancerous. Some risk factors that I have found are drugs used for ovulation like Clomid or Serophene.

Then we get into a bit more serious conditions such as Endometriomas, cysts found in woman that who have endometriosis, this is a tricky cyst that acts and looks just like the lining of the uterus, but grows on the outside. Pain can be felt during sexual intercourse and the menstrual cycle.

Cystadenomas, these are the cysts that can grow quickly and cause major pain. They are formed from cells on the outer surface of the ovary.

Dermoid Cysts are nasty little buggers; they can contain all types of cells and stuff like hair or even teeth that become part of the cyst.

My aunt who opted for the hormonal treatment found that she had quite a few side effects and at the end of her treatment found that she went thru quite a bit of pain. She decided not to change her lifestyle at all and the cysts did come back.

My Cousin on the other hand was a bit more proactive and is a lot like me. She researched for a natural way to cure the cyst. What she had to do was make a complete change in her lifestyle, from watching what she ate to making a dedicated effort to incorporating fitness in her life that included quite a bit of stretching. She found that she fell in love with yoga and other meditation techniques.

Albeit it took longer for her to conquer the cysts than my aunt; but she has not had any more symptoms, whereas my aunt has had recurring bouts from time to time.

Whats great is that I think we have convinced her to come on board and change her lifestyle! Also she is doing her own research to find a natural cure of her own ovarian cysts.
