The cost of energy is going up. The environmental impact of our energy habits is coming back to bite us. There are many ways for homeowners to lower their energy bills and reduce the impact on the environment at the same time. One of the first thoughts that people have when first learning about this is that there is no way! So many lack confidence in their own abilities. Just thinking about can be very intimidating. This can be done, though.

If all else fails you could ask a contractor for a good recommendation.

Please do not get ahead of yourself. This will not instantly free you from the utility companies or the power grid. You need to pace yourself. It is a major step to just get going and act on your plan. You will have to work at it and add to it one weekend at a time.

You simply are not able to become self-contained in one shot, however, if you want to make a big dent in your usage there are some things you can try. That would be a very large system, indeed. Patience and diligence can go a long way to keeping your bills under control.

By setting up your own alternative system while at the same time reducing what you use in your home you will be making a big difference, not only for the environment, but also in your monthly bills.
