A Wide Variety Of Electric Rc Trucks
So you are thinking about getting into electric RC trucks and don't really know where to start
? There are many different kinds of RC trucks, and deciding on an electric model is a good choice, from both a beginner's stand point, as well as the seasoned veteran. While gas and Nitro mixes give you more power and speed, for safety and reliability, nothing beats electric. They last longer than gas, and a 9.6v battery pack can stand up to many repeat charges, while gas for your other vehicles, is expensive, and only lasts for a short period of time.
Electric RC trucks come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. There are models of Remote Control trucks that are fairly low to the ground, and while they may have truck tires, are mostly suited for over the road conditions. The ones you see that have the truck body higher up, with knobby truck tires, those are the ones best suited for off road terrain. These can go up and down hills, over rough terrain, and even through mud puddles without skipping a beat. For true off road action these are the ones to get. There are are also trucks that are scaled down monster truck versions, with the same styling and decorations as their real counterparts. While these are cool and are able to tackle harder obstacles, the disadvantage is that you are trading size for power. These large models take up just as much electricity as there bigger cousins suck down fuel.
Just like cars and other RC vehicles, electric RC trucks come in racing styles as well. These Remote Control trucks have spring suspensions, wide gripping tires, and can be raced in a combination of on and off road situations. There are models that come with two trucks in the same package with two controllers so that you and a friend can race each other. The radio controllers are on two different frequencies so theirs no interference.
Choosing the right electric RC trucks is the tricky part. There are RC trucks that are Ready-To-Run, or RTR, and there are those that come in kits that you have to assemble yourself. The RTR trucks are ideal for the beginner, or someone who just wants to use there truck right out of the box. For more experienced, or serious RC hobbyists, the kit styles are very popular because not only do you have the opportunity to build your own truck, but add accessories you want, and customize your vehicle to fit your own personality.
If you are just starting out with electric RC trucks, then you are better off buying not only a RTR style, but one that isn't going to cost a lot of money. While this can be a fun and exciting hobby, driving Remote Controlled trucks is a lot different different than the real thing. The center of gravity on some of these is high, and they have a tendency to tip over. You are probably going to crash a lot, so getting a less expensive model is a good idea. Just like other vehicles in this hobby, for the best prices and selection you should start by going online.
