Advanced Technology Investment Company (ATIC), a technology company owned by the city government of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, ready poured funds amounting to US$ 7 billion. The funds are intended to build their first microchip manufacturing factory.

For factory area, ATIC choose a location near Abu Dhabi International Airport. The factory will be the first microchip factory who were present in the Middle East region during operation later in the year 2015.

As quoted from Madshrimps, 19 September 2010, ATIC itself is behind Globalfoundries microchip business is a business unit disposed of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) the second largest processor manufacturer in the world to stand alone in the year 2008.

Currently, ATIC is investing US$ 3.6 billion to expand their business in developing the processor manufacturer in Germany and the United States.

Last March, ATIC has also been paid an amount of US$ 2.1 billion in AMD to take a 65.8 percent stake in Globalfoundries.

Although since then until now shares ATIC has reached 73 percent, ATIC itself mentions that there was no intention for them to take ownership Globalfoundries fully.
