Students can find several levels of career training possibilities through accredited human services schools.

The educational training pursued will coincide with student's career goals. Every degree level is available to interested students and each one prepares them for careers. Undergraduate programs typically prepare students for entry-level and assistant careers. Graduate degree programs provide students with advanced knowledge that allows them to enter upper-level careers. Through career training programs students can enter the industry and become:

Training is dedicated to teaching students to properly assess and give the appropriate services to a wide range of individuals. Students can step into particular areas of the industry that interest them more. When deciding on a career training track students need to match their goals with programs.

Students that enter associates degree programs will begin their education by learning about the industry as a whole. They first study what types of services are offered by different organizations and how individuals are helped in regards to their needs. Main educational areas incorporate different skills that allow students to work directly with individuals. Areas such as counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation are explored. Since most career opportunities involve supporting other professionals many students continue their education at the bachelor's degree level after only a short time in the workplace.

Several main components of the industry are examined as students work through curriculums that focus on psychological development, client evaluation, and group psychology. The goal is to teach students to properly understand what services need to be given after an evaluation process. Policy, crisis intervention, substance abuse, and conflict management courses are some topics taken within a degree program. Students will choose electives that focus on their areas of interest, which prepare them for their career goals and continued education.

Masters degree programs offer students several concentrations that are designed to prepare them for specific careers. Only a few colleges offer programs at this level making it imperative that students research the different specialization areas offered. Students can step into focused training programs in education, faith, family, health, business, and leadership. The curriculum for each area is different but all students' complete courses that help them develop the skills needed. Subjects in child development, law, counseling, and interpersonal communication are taken before concentration areas are started. Further education at the doctorate's degree level allows students to further develop their public services skills. Social development, research, and organizational theory prepare students for administration careers.


Upon completion of degree programs students can work with individuals suffering from child abuse, substance abuse, poverty, mental illness, and more. Training prepares students to provide services and help individuals move past their circumstances and better their situations. Students that have a desire to help individuals in this way can complete human services degree programs at their desired level and begin careers in the industry. The American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE) accredits schools and colleges that provide students with quality training.
