This is simple and quick formula. Anyone can do it as long as you have done your homework. This three part strategy involves:
Your knowledge of the company: what do you know where are they going and where can you help them? Answer these questions to yourself and you are going to blow their minds with information.
Your knowledge of the job: how long have you worked in the field and what can you bring to the table no one else can? If you cannot answer that question then you are in BIG trouble! In fact there are millions of highly educated jobless people who can't answer that as well. What you need is a unique selling proposition. Something you can do that others either wont or can't do. That my friends is your EDGE!
Your knowledge of the of the department heads: A simple Google search you can find out about the job and company. But what about who is heading the department? That is where Linkedin.com comes in. You can find almost any company hiring on Linkedin. In fact they have dwarfed other job search companies in the last 3 years. this is partly because of the economy. But the other major is that Linkedin is like Facebook for professionals.
They dominate because they allow people to socialize and interact professionally with others. Well you may not know t but many people may already be connected to you and you don't know it. Start searching and building.
Really comes down to knowing your USP (unique selling proposition) and doing your research. But the real trick is getting known in a passive way with the person your interviewing with through sites like likedin.
All of this will bring you a wealth of knowledge to deliver in your interview. The important part is in your delivery. you must be smooth yet bold. And let them know you not only know the job but you relate to their personalities.
Execute everything I have written here and brilliance will be your middle name.
