No matter how rewarding or exciting our lives are it is always a matter of time before we seek new adventures and new thrills. Man is a very funny creation and a lot of times our wishes and desires are conflicting and this seems to confuse us quite a bit. For example we all want stability and security, if however thins get too secure we feel bored and uninspired. This is why it is very important to constantly challenge ourselves and push our comfort zone.
Pushing your comfort zone and stepping into uncharted territory makes us feel alive and really broadens our horizon. When you do so you learn to see things from other perspectives than you are used to and every single time you push yourself you grow as a person. Life is all about constantly growing and seeing how far into the unknown you can go.
A really great philosophy that deals with this concept is the theory of KAIZEN. Kaizen was first introduced by the Toyota Corporation as a way of constantly improving their process and in this way lowering their prices while delivering better quality. Kaizen isn't about making a lot of major changes at once, something we humans tend to do a lot. The problem with making too many changes too fast is that you often feel overwhelmed and end up quitting on all of your plans. Instead Kaizen focuses on small incremental changes every single day. We all know that a lot of small changes will quickly add up and before you know it you find yourself doing something you had never imagined you could do.
The way to apply this theory into your life is to constantly strive to learn new things and never feel like you know everything. By always perceiving yourself as a student you will ensure that you don't build an ego that will stop you from constantly learning. You have to remember that it is impossible to grasp and obtain all the knowledge in the world in one single life time and therefore the best thing you can do is to always listen carefully to what people tell you and know that even if the guy talking is not very intelligent, you might learn a way in which you shouldn't perceive the world.
Strive for constant learning and your potential in life will be unlimited.
