Addictions are very very common these days. Drug addicts, alcoholics, chain smokers roam the streets of most of the cities and towns of todays world. Why are they addicts? There might be a plethora of reasons and causes behind their addiction. Each one might be having a completely different reason for his present addicted state. Whatever might have been the cause , a complete lack of self control is common to all the cases of addiction. Initially one experiment, followed by another ,in response to invitation and persuasion from peers , can lead to a complete dependence on the wrong habits.Why are these habits wrong? They are not right as they can only cause physical and mental damage.

However,the right addictions lead to wonderful results.They are right ,as they help in self improvement. The wrong addictions can be transformed into the right ones. An alchoholic lies immersed in his drinks, may be with the intention of forgetting his worldly woes and worries.The addicted brain is a dependent one- it needs something to rely on. If this faithfulness can be transferred to something worthwhile,like reading avidly, doing any kind of hard work that leaves him tired but happy, helping others in distress- ways that wil help him regain self control and slowly tug him away from his wrong addiction. Self satisfaction is a must for all individuals to be content . This can never come with the wrong habits. A person, even if he is impoverished wil be happy ,if he has helped someone.There are people who revel in assisting others.They have a passion for social and community service.Instead of wallowing in self pity, a good turn to others can help us tide over our pessimism.
