Adding Value To Your Property With A Garden

It doesn't take a genius to know that our economy is currently in a slump and its simultaneously dragging down the property market with it

. No doubt this current economical trough will begin to improve with time, but it is now more important than ever to add value to your property particularly if you are trying to sell.

Notice that I said value and not price. This is because with less buyers around it's not necessarily a good idea to increase the price of your house, but instead increase its value or its worth so it becomes more appealing to potential buyers.

There are tons of property television programmes that tell us the importance of a good quality kitchen and bathroom. There are many property magazines that consistently talk about the appeal of a conservatory or Orangery. However not many people talk about the value and impact the right garden can have for your property.

Adding value to your property with outside space is a great way to improve the appeal of your home. Quite often your front garden is the first thing a potential buyer will see, it's a cover to your book and yes people do judge a book by its cover. And even if a potential homebuyer is not a big gardener, they will always check out space to the rear of your house.

But adding value is all about getting the right type of outdoor space. For example many homeowners are incredibly busy with their 21st century lifestyles and simply do not have the time to look after a high maintenance garden. Therefore presenting your home with some low maintenance flower beds and a well manicure lawn that is easy to mow can be incredibly appealing.

Having a home that is surrounded with high maintenance exotic plants, beautiful but large trees waiting to drop a huge amount of leads in the autumn and an enormous pond might be a little overwhelming and actually devalue your property.

So what's the answer? The answer is to get the balance absolutely right. Provide and create both a front and rear outdoor space that is incredibly visually appealing yet simple to keep well manicure. If you work closely with a garden designer they will be able to advise you and create the perfect value adding elements. They will know exactly how to plant, what to plant, how to create a low maintenance of law and low maintenance garden. They will also be able to keep this in tip top condition allowing you to add value to your home and sell it as quickly as possible!
