The advantage of owning a house compared to condominiums and townhouses is that it gives its residents the freedom to modify the building and land as they please (although this may be subject to government, homeowner association, and deed restrictions). Owning a condominium unit or a townhouse doesn't give them the right to modify its exterior or the land surrounding it. There are also condominiums that doesn't allow its residents to modify even the interior.

Another advantage of owning a house is its luxury.
