"They lived happily ever after"

"They lived happily ever after". Did they really? After what? After dating, after falling in love, after the show ends? Ever after is a long time, and happily too? That is a great ending to any movie. However, happily ever after is a hard one to come by. Seems like there is an after to many things we do, we have after hours for shopping, after shocks from earthquakes, and after-shave lotions to keep you from getting all red and itchy.

Happily ever after. A wonderful phrase. Wikipedia list five movies with that name, four books with the title, seven songs, two television shows and four television episodes all bearing the name, "happily ever after". The Wikionary defines it as "happily until one's death". No wonder so many fairy tales end this way. It is concise, pleasant, and an easy ending to any story.

Cinderella and the Prince, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and Prince Charming all got this great gift bestowed them. The name conjures up bliss with little or no effort, no wonder there are "Happily ever after" wedding dress shops, bridal photographers, doll stores, bridal boutiques, and marriage therapist. Certainly an elusive goal.

After-hours, people can come into shops for special promotions and discounts. Stores use this as a way to draw people who are in the mood to shop additional hours to spend their money. There is often a social atmosphere associated with after-hour sales to help people feel happy about spending.

After shocks from earthquakes are serious matters. No happily ever after, just more destruction, damage, and devastation. If an aftershock is larger than the original quake, it becomes the main shock redesignated as a foreshock. Aftershocks are formed as the displaced fault line adjusts itself to the main shock. They are common after any major shock. There are several very scientific laws that these aftershocks adhere to, Bath's Law, Gutenberg-Richter law, and Omori's law. You would need a PHD in something to figure out the formulas but they are constant.

Aftershave lotion is last on our list of "afters". Aftershave lotion prepares the skin for the next go around. It heals, sooths, and protects the skin from irritating rashes after shaving. A good aftershave contains aloe Vera or other soothing agents. Aftershave lotion is a vital part of the morning routing for men, after they are through shaving the days activities await them.

After all, we have after hours, to purchase our after-shave so we can be prepared for the after shocks from the earthquakes of life so we can life happily ever after!
