Air conditioners are a home appliance that extracts the hot air from the desired area and blows cool air into it. There are different types of air conditioning units. Each machine has its own special feature, which are different from others. This variety allows us to choose the best suitable appliance according to their requirements. Different devices have different prices. Its up to the buyers which one they can afford according to their income. There are different types of air conditioners. There are two types of air conditioners used for cooling a single room. One is unitary system and the other is packed terminal system. Unitary system is placed on a window or on the opening of any wall. The inside air is cooled when the fan blows air over the evaporator. The outside unit heats the air blowing it over the condenser. Packaged terminal air conditioner equipment is also called the wall split systems. Splits have two separate terminal packages. The evaporator is indoors and the condenser is outdoors. A pipe is used to connect both the terminals. Splits can also be used as a heater in winter, the condenser being the indoor unit and evaporator being the outdoor terminal. Another type of air conditioning is evaporative cooler. This is mainly used in dry climates. This type of air conditioner takes in the air from the outside, which travels through wet pads surrounding the equipment from 3 sides. These coolers are less costly and are easy to maintain. They do not provide cooling more than the other air conditioning devices.Portable air conditioners is a device that can be moved as desired. It does not require fixed installation. These are usually rented in emergencies. Portable air conditioners work like a refrigerator.Central air conditioning units use ducts which are distributed in different parts of the entire area. Central air conditioners are more useful than the others. When central air conditioning is turned on, it sucks the room air, cleans it makes it cool and then the same air is generated back into the rooms. There are also mini-splits, which work like a central air conditioning system. The difference is that they are small in size and are flexible. Every indoor unit of mini-split has it own thermostat so the areas, which are not being used can be turned off. Air conditioning equipment uses a lot of power. One cooling unit uses the power equal to mass of the refrigeration units, which is approximately 12,000 British Thermal Units per hour, or 3517 watts per hour. Central air systems used in houses require at least 3 kilowatts. Using air conditioning units require a lot of electricity. In summers there is a lot of load on the power grids. Most power supply units are operating under heavy load. In summer season due to excessive use of air conditioners we face lack of power. At times there is also power failure. To avoid such consequences extra power plants are put up to generate more electricity for the country and excessive use of energy should be reduced.
