Air Conditioning System Basics

Air conditioning refers to the technology of cooling interior spaces of rooms or buildings to decrease heat and make the environment more comfortable. Air conditioning systems refer to the mechanics of how this machine works. Air conditioners, although are designed to be durable even for a long period of usage, still require frequent tune ups or constant maintenance to ensure that it will operate without a hitch.

One way of making sure that an air conditioner keeps working is to constantly clean the filter. Cleaning the filter will not only make the machine work properly but it will also ensure that the air conditioner is safe to use. Filters that are not cleaned regularly have a tendency to carry bacteria. This can lead to people developing allergies and other sicknesses which could be avoided if proper maintenance is kept.

The air conditioning systems are pretty much simple. There is the condensation and the evaporation system and both these systems are essential in taking out the humidity in the air and cooling the environment.

What air conditioning system means

Air conditioning occurs because heat is removed from the room. All air conditioners use this principle when they are operating. There are several ways to remove heat: heat cooling, convection and radiation.

The mechanics of an air conditioning system is to control humidity, provide ventilation and cool the surrounding air of a certain room or building to make the environment as comfortable as possible. This mechanism goes through four phases: first the compressor increases the temperature of the refrigerant and the density; next the heat exchange cools the compressed vapour which condenses it to a fluid. Afterwards, the fluid is forced into the building through an evaporator. In here, the fluid is sprayed through a pressurized refrigerant and goes to an expansion chamber. In the expansion chamber the fluid evaporates which will absorb the heat from the environment and this will cool down the evaporator coils. The vaporization heat is provided by the air inside the room which is passed over the heat-exchange coils. This process takes the heat contained in the air inside the room and transferred to the refrigerant. The vapour from the refrigerant is brought back to the compressor and the process repeats itself. This whole process is what makes air conditioning possible.

Central air conditioning applies the same principle but on a larger scale. Central air conditioning is used mostly for offices, homes, and public buildings though this air conditioning system is more appropriate to infrastructures that have been designed to adjust for this machinery.
