centrifugal pump, the cost of a magnetic drive pump is quite high.

Features and Uses:

Magnetic pumps are utilized in various sectors like agriculture, beverage industry, refineries, chemical processing and other government industrial sectors.

These pumps are absolutely leak proof, however they are not suitable when high viscosity materials or solid content is used. These pumps are not designed in

the conventional shaft coupling method, and thus the casing in the pump is completely sealed from the drive end. In that case, when there is no mechanical

seal feature, there is no risk of leakage, failure or production loss. Since, these pumps are leak proof and prevent the common contamination issues; they

are widely used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Therefore, they are also used to transport expensive chemicals and hazardous materials. They

prevent the slippage and make sure that an effective full motor horsepower is transformed into pumping power.

The materials that are used to make the internal section of the magnetic pumps are generally high-grade plastics, metals and ceramics. The range of

temperature at which these pumps function highly differs, depending upon the materials. Nevertheless, there are different types of pumps such as stationary

shaft and rotating shaft available in the market. While the stationary shaft pumps are implemented for medium duty applications, the rotating shafts are used

for heavy duty applications.

Operation and Maintenance:

The filters in the pump are not advised to be placed before the pump inlet.

The pump should contain flooded suction because it does not self prime.

When priming, the pump should be operated in a period of short ten cycles in order to moderate the cleaning of air.

While performing this process, ensure that there are no blockages or leaks in the affiliated paperwork.

Do not operate the pump against a closed valve for more than 30 seconds.

When the pump fluid causes a deposition in the internal section of the machine, a regular cleaning would be necessary. You can use a suitable cleaning agent

to perform this.

Adequately ventilate the casing of the pump in order to avoid overheating of the motor.


Never run the pump in a dry condition.

All the pumps are designed to function on a positive or a dynamic displacement principle. In the case of magnetic pumps, they generate different movements by

using the principle of magnets.
